![]() But I've had to replace the PSU a few times during the life of this rig and never has it triggered the CPU LED. ![]() My main curiosity is that everything has been working perfectly fine for a long time and it just happens to go down 2 days after installing a new HDD, which leads me to lean towards the PSU, if anything. How to start PC with Solid RED LED CPU Problem Part 1 ViTiGamer 65 subscribers Subscribe 65K views 5 years ago This is my problem, and kinda a solution for this problem Specs: How to start PC. Just hoping they still have life in them. I built this computer quite a while ago so I'm aware that the mobo and CPU are quite old at this point. I'm trying to avoid buying a new PSU, CPU and mobo trying to figure out which one is to blame (hopefully none of I'm missing something simpler) so I was hoping someone with more knowledge than me might be able to narrow it down better. All with the same result: powers up, nothing on the screen, all fans and LEDs running and the CPU LED still solid red. Tried removing the RAM, tried just one stick of RAM. I tried reseating the CPU, the RAM and the video card. I open the case back up and I notice the CPU LED on the mobo is solid red whenever I power it up. Triple 120mm Addressable RGB Fans AIO CPU Liquid Cooler. If it doesn't post then the most likely suspect is motherboard, more likely than a dead cpu. Lian Li UNI FAN SL120 3 Pack White - with Controller (ARGB 120mm LED PWM Daisy-Chain). Connect to onboard video and check for post. Have no drives connected, no gpu, 1 stick of Ram. Condition: New Quantity: More than 10 available Price: £112.62 From £10. My next step would to be go down to basics, pull the motherboard out and put in on it's box. The empty 2x2 doesn't matter, you're not LN2 overclocking. I tried two different monitors with 2 different HDMI cables and neither recognize a signal. Shut it down for the night, turn it on the next day, it powers on, fans and LEDs are running, but nothing on the screen. Again, worked perfectly fine for 8+ hours. DETAILED STEPS: Solution to the problem of the red cpuled.Check beforehand that everything else works, that means, that the cpu is in good condition, that t. I removed said dying drive, closed her up and powered it on. The computer worked perfectly fine for a full day with the case open as I was transferring data from an older, dying WD Green drive. The RED Led on CPU means that it can not launch the CPU, probably DOA or short the V6GT is definately not on, as the MOBO does not launch the CPU fans until CPU launches to give it max power. This is now the 4th HDD in my rig along with a 1tb WD Blue, a 3tb WD Blue and a 3tb Toshiba. He was doing some windows updates and he said on steam 5/5 his power went out, when he turned the PC back on the video cards wouldn't send anything to the monitor and upon further inspection the CPU LED was now Red. The power button does not work, only the lights on the motherboard. I recently just installed a new 6tb WD Blue HDD in my rig. The motherboard is a ASUS 990fx sabertooth (Not a r2.0 or whatever) and the CPU LED is now bright red. Last, since I've done many experiments, I may need to already reapply thermal paste (though it wouldn't prevent the PC from booting?).I'm hoping someone can help. Of course, the CPU can be faulty as well, but I'm more likely the culprit I guess (and I don't know how to test it alone). Reading the Internet, I also checked the CPU (the pins look ok), the PSU to the mobo, a CMOS clear. Then the 2 top AIO fans have an adapter to only have 1 4-pin that I tried to plug either in the top next to the pump one on a fan spot, or in the bottom on a pump spot (which looks quite low for the pump wire itself, but they're all the same anyway?). Even though I didnt put in GPUs, Memory, nor GPU, the LEDs for Video. From the pump, I have 1 Y-cable with a 3-pin side (that I put on a 4-pin on the mobo), and a PSU one that I linked to it. I suspect I screwed a wire up with the AIO (the Corsair manual is minimalistic~). I ordered the retrofit kit from Corsair (the screws have the same length on both side for me), but after changing them in the PC, no change: red led. While assembling, I realized the AIO actually needed other screws to fit the LGA1700 motherboard. I received my new PC, I assembled everything, but couldn't boot it: there's a red CPU led on the motherboard.
